K-Array provides ‘perfect sound’ for Slush Asia

JAPAN: A recent Slush Asia panel discussion featuring accomplished entrepreneurs outlining their paths to success was supported with audio equipment from K-Array. Prism Co Ltd was tasked with providing clear and quality sound reinforcement and visuals at a specially constructed multi-stage venue in Odaiba, Tokyo.

Slush is a non-profit organisation designed to inspire entrepreneurism in young people through meetings and presentations with international venture capitalists, executives and media. A total of eight KAN200+s were installed along the truss in the 18m-domed intermediate tent with four KMT18 subwoofers placed on the ground. In the neighbouring tent, a KR402 column system with a single KMT18 subwoofer was set up on one side of the stage with two KP102s main speakers deployed at a 4-degree angle to reduce reflections from the facing wall.

In the larger 21m-diameter tent, another KR402 system was used with two high-box KP102s combined with a KMT21 subwoofer and flown as a line array from scaffolding. For the infill, a set of KP52s was attached to the scaffolding. The whole system was driven by a KA24 amp.

‘Installing the high-boxes takes a few minutes for each side of the stage,’ explained Yasushi Matsuura, Prism’s sound director for the event. ‘Using the two KP102s, you can create a 2m-long line array that projects the presenter’s voice throughout the coverage area. Even with its small size, it is enough to get a perfect sound. K-array’s speakers are amazing!’
