Kling & Freitag mourns passing of co-founder

WORLD: Martin Kling, co-founder of German loudspeaker manufacturer Kling & Freitag GmbH, has passed away unexpectedly at the age of 54. Having helped to create the company alongside Jürgen Freitag in 1980, Mr Kling departed in 2008 due to personal and family reasons, since which time he suffered from ill-health. In an official statement, Jürgen Freitag expressed his gratitude to his long-term partner.

‘I’ve had a lot of precious moments with Martin,’ said Mr Freitag. ‘Sometimes we sat together late into the night and worked meticulously on new ideas for loudspeaker systems. “Only the best is good enough” was always his motto, which still applies to us today. Without Martin, the company and the Kling & Freitag brand would not exist in this form. For that, I am very grateful to him.’

Among the many successes in the career of a man described as the ‘former partner, namesake and chief developer’ of Kling & Freitag was the development of the CA 106 compact speaker, plus systems including Access, the CA and Line 212 series and Sequenza 10.
