L-Acoustics powers Bangalore’s first ever Emerge Festival

INDIA: Alongside headline performances from UK bands Alt J and Rudimental, fans at the first ever Emerge Music and Arts Festival in Bangalore were treated to a sound reinforcement system from French-manufacturer L-Acoustics. The event called upon J Davis Prosound & Lighting to deploy its complete range of technical solutions.

Emerge festival’s mission is to offer a musical experience for young fans ‘like no other’, and with two major international headline acts performing at its inaugural outing, it pulled out all the stops to make that a reality.

The L-Acoustics system featured L-R hangs each comprising 10 V-Dosc main elements with low frequency reinforcement provided from 18 SB218 subwoofers deployed in a L-C-R cardioid configuration. A further 12 dV-Dosc and four Arcs enclosures provided additional fills, with power for the whole system derived from LA48a amplifiers.

Additional audio equipment included 12 Martin Audio LE floor monitors, a pair of Avid SC48 consoles with digital stage boxes and a Yamaha PM5DRH for mixing, three Dolby Lake processors, an XTA DS 800 active splitter and Klotz passive splitter. Microphones used for the event were a combination of Shure, Sennheiser and AKG wired models, used in tandem with a Shure UHF-R wireless microphone system and Sennheiser G3 Series in-ear monitors.

An equally impressive lighting setup was also provided and encompassed a total of 80 Silver Star Boxer LED Pars, eight 4Lite Molefays, 24 Elation Platinum Beam 5Rs, 24 Clay Paky Alpha Spot HPE 1200s, 14 MX Prime LED washes and 21 Atomic Strobes 3000. Control of the lighting system was provided by a Grand MA Lite 2 console from MA Lighting together with an Avolites Pearl 2010.

‘We are delighted to be a part of the first Emerge Festival in Bangalore and it was truly an amazing experience,’ commented J Davis Prosound & Lighting managing director and chief sound engineer, Santana Davis. ‘The L-Acoustics system performed brilliantly with an even dispersion. The audio mix for Alt J, in particular, was amazing and really made a big difference to the way the system sounded. Alt J’s FOH engineer Lance Reynolds thoroughly enjoyed the concert and commended the way we had set up the sound system.’
