Lamb of God kicks off tour with VampP Sound and Harman

INDIA: V&P Sound supplied audio equipment from Harman brands JBL and Crown for Lamb of God’s recent concert in Bangalore, which marked the first date of the group’s Indian tour. A reported 7,000 fans attended the concert, which featured headline acts Esher’s Knot, Bhayanak Maut and Skyharbour.

Following a successful tour of the country in 2010, the band were back this year to play to its Indian fanbase. Event promoter Overture India wanted to ‘give the fans what they wanted’ for the first concert in the 2012 tour, prompting the company to contact V&P Sound for the audio requrements.

‘I love the JBL VerTec V5,’ said V&P Sound’s chief system and mix engineer Mallesh T. ‘We deployed 20 VT4889 line array elements and 16 subwoofers, with VT4886s and VT4883 subs as centre-fills and mosh pit fills for the concert. I like the changes that have been made to the low frequencies on the V5, and I was very pleased with the system’s performance. We are now using new V5 DSP presets, and we didn’t have to use much EQ on the system.

‘I feel that the V5 have given new life to the VerTec system – it’s like having a new speaker system all over again,’ he enthused. ‘The system was powered by Crown I-Tech-HD amps (5000s, 9000s and 12000s), and I was very impressed with them – the LevelMax processing is great. Application engineering Paul Bauman, the director of tour sound products and for JBL, has done a great job, and Lamb Of God fans went home treasuring the mind blowing experience,’ he concluded.
