LaON keeps interference at bay for Hunan TV

CHINA: Hunan TV, the second most-watched television channel in China, has chosen LaON Technology’s LT550 Plus intercom system for use with its new 24-hour reality entertainment programme, Perfect Holiday. The show’s technical director, Wang Jun, wanted to cover almost all areas of the large studio, including the control rooms on the ground and second floor, and passageways where the camera crews are mainly located. The system was delivered to Hunan TV by New Digital Technology Holding (NDT) Ltd.

The studio houses two control rooms and 16 small living spaces for cast members, each of which is equipped with an existing 2.4GHz Wi-Fi device. As a result of the studio’s size, LaON recommended its LT550 Plus system which offers up to 30 RBS25 repeater connections per base station deployed. A BS550 base station was built into a 19-inch cascade kit and installed in the server room at the main control room to provide compatibility with a Riedel Artist matrix system. RBS25 repeaters were installed at the ‘best points available to efficiently cover all the spaces’, while all operators and camera crews are each treated to LaON’s BP550 beltpack transmitter. Up to 128 beltpacks can reportedly be linked to any RBS25 repeater under the same base station.

With the system in place, the installers noted that it performed to requirements and didn't experience any interference from the existing 2.4GHz wireless devices thanks to its use of the 5GHz frequency band. ‘All operators and staff at the site are full of praise for the audio quality and performance of the LaON intercom system,’ enthused Stef Lui, product vice general manager, professional audio-visual and broadcasting department at NDT.
