LAX Technology Park opens with largest anechoic chamber in Asia

CHINA: Loudspeaker manufacturer LAX has opened its new LAX Technology Park following 14 months of design and construction.
The new 24,000 sq-m facility reportedly boasts the largest anechoic chamber in Asia as well as a substantial research and development centre, production workshops, a dedicated showroom, theatre and studio, and company offices.
Described by the Chinese company as ‘an ideal platform for integrating our internal resources’, the new Technology Park is being viewed as an important milestone in the development of LAX as a manufacturer, with the company having long sought to become a leading brand within the Chinese market and beyond. It’s role in the 2008 Beijing Olympics went some way towards fulfilling that goal, with its loudspeakers used prominently within the Bird’s Nest stadium. The cornerstone laying ceremony that heralded the beginning of the Technology Park’s construction on March 31 2009 was widely viewed as the continuation of that success.
However, it is the vast anechoic chamber - located in the research and development centre – that will capture the most attention within the Asian region. Reportedly standing as tall as a four-storey building, the 1,700 ton chamber is supported by 570 springs. The manufacturer intends the chamber to be used for the testing and development of every new LAX product, while external scientific institutes are set to be invited to participate in research projects.
