Mahajak deploys single solution for Bangkok’s The District EM

THAILAND: Harman distributor, Mahajak, was recently enlisted by systems integrator, PM Centre, to provide audio for two new malls in Bangkok, Emquartier and Emporium – collectively named The District EM. While the two malls are separate complexes, they are architecturally interlinked with walkways and the Sky Train. The audio system provided by Mahajak and PM Centre for both sites is also unified, with an extensive fibre network and remote control room established to enable remote monitoring of the entire system from a single location. Part of a wider A/V installation including outdoor projections and LED displays, the audio side of the project included equipment from JBL, Crown, BSS Audio and Soundcraft.
‘Our experience in designing and installing outdoor systems, combined with the reputation of Soundcraft, JBL, Crown and BSS was the main reason that we were approached to develop this system,’ said Alan Archer, project manager of Mahajak. ‘A very flexible system was needed to cater to a wide range of outdoor activities in multiple locations, so we used these products to enable delivery of high-quality sound to many locations at the same time.’
The system comprises 58 JBL Control 25AV, 20 Control 29AV, six AWC129, four AW526 loudspeakers and six ASB7118WRX subwoofers. Power for the entire system is derived from three Crown DCi 2|600N amplifiers, five DCi 2|1250N amplifiers and three Crown I-Tech 9000HDs. Two BSS Blu-806 and one BSS Blu-326 signal processors along with two Blu-Bob2 output expanders were added for additional network bandwidth.
‘We could not use other brands for an integrated system such as this one,’ furthered Mr Archer. ‘We had to convince the developers that we could produce a working system that will last within a certain budget. Thanks to the fact that JBL, Crown and BSS work so well together, we were able to achieve this.’
