Major changes to Rycote distribution in India and Pacific Rim

ASIA: Rycote has announced significant changes to Asian distribution, with Cineom named as the microphone windshield brand’s new exclusive distributor for India and Sennheiser Asia now handling the brand in 15 Pacific Rim markets including Singapore, Malaysia, Brunei, Indonesia, East Timor, Thailand, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Myanmar, Bhutan, the Philippines, Vietnam, Bangladesh, Cambodia and Fiji.
Cineom is a well-known name within India having earned a strong reputation as a broadcast integrator and IT and pro audio supply and service company. The distributor boasts offices in Mumbai, Chennai and Delhi. Sennheiser, meanwhile, has a long-standing global relationship with Rycote. The distribution changes – described by Rycote managing director Simon Davies as reflecting an evolution in the manufacturer’s product range – are effective immediately.
‘Both of our new partners in India and East Asia are a good fit for our diversifying business,’ Mr Davies explained. ‘Rycote windshields have been the de-facto standard for the international location sound and broadcast industries for many years, but our 2011 product range now also includes products for the pro audio and videography industries, and ideally we'd like our distributors to reflect that.
‘Not only are Cineom in India a broadcast systems integrator, but they also supply video and film post-production houses and recording studios in Bollywood, and both we and they foresee a rosy future for Rycote in those markets. Equally, it's good to see our close worldwide relationship with Sennheiser further strengthened by the addition of Sennheiser Asia to our distributors for East Asia. Their sales and support network ties those far-reaching Asian territories together with great efficiency and transparency, which is exactly what we're looking for to further improve our sales in those countries.’
Following the announcement, Sennheiser Asia president and managing director Ng Chee Soon commented: ‘We believe having Rycote on board will strengthen our presence in the various markets. It is definitely a recognised brand name for microphone accessories, and I am sure we can capture a greater market share in the professional audio industry now with a multifaceted variety of products.’
