Media Networking Alliance announces new members

WORLD: A number of new major broadcasters and manufacturers have joined the Media Networking Alliance (MNA) in recent weeks in support of the open AES67 standard. The alliance has attributed this surge in uptake to a number of recent and highly successful events, including the inaugural membership meeting held during the recent AES Convention and AES’s ‘PlugFest’, which proved AES67 interoperability between equipment from 10 different manufacturers.
The newest members include major broadcasters The BBC and Sveriges Radio AB, as well as audio manufacturer’s Focusrite, Genelec and Shure and Riedel Communications. The BBC and Sveriges Radio were both present at the recent PlugFest event in an observer capacity.
Shure is the newest member to the join the alliance, with Bob Abraham, director of Digital Audio Products commenting: ‘Shure is pleased to join MNA in support of the AES67 standard. We believe a healthy A/V industry needs open standards and interoperability to meet customer expectations. AES67 is emerging as an appealing media networking solution because it promises some unique benefits we think customers will really appreciate.’
MNA steering committee chairman Rich Zweibel was enthusiastic about latest alliance members. ‘The Media Networking Alliance is excited to have such prestigious organisations and companies become part of the MNA, and we are extremely pleased at the increasing rate of applications for membership so soon after the inauguration of the alliance. AES67 is a true interoperability standard which benefits the entire audio industry. Support of AES67 is coming from a wide variety of users, including broadcasters like the BBC and Swedish Radio and manufacturers such as Shure.’
