Media Prima chooses Stagetec Crescendo for Glenmarie facility

MALAYSIA: Leading Malaysian broadcaster Media Prima Berhad has opted to install a Stagetec Crescendo broadcast console in the main studio of its newly renovated facility in Glenmarie, Shah Alam. The broadcaster – home to local free-to-air channels including TV3, NTV7, 8TV and TV9 – selected the console to complement ongoing upgrades such as greater 5.1 surround sound coverage.

‘In line with the expansion and transition to HD broadcast and surround sound production over various platforms such as terrestrial, IPTV and digital media, the acquisition of a reliable professional broadcast mixer that is able to deliver high quality audio becomes a necessity,’ commented Media Prima’s head of audio engineering, Mohd Jamli. ‘We tested Crescendo and its bigger brother, Aurus, on various productions including the music competitions Mentor and Anugerah Juara Lagu, and were satisfied with the console’s level of quality, flexibility and reliability.’

Stagetec Asia will now install the console in the main studio of the Glenmarie facility, utilising a Dante network based on a Nexus router. Up to 256 channels of audio and control data will be passed between the control room and consoles at FOH and monitor positions on the studio floor. According to Mr Azrin, senior audio director of operations, the acquisition of the Crescendo marks a new beginning for Media Prima in terms delivering 5.1 coverage. Moves towards the format are in-line with an expected transition to a nationwide DTTB service.

‘The Mediagroup has always been and will continue to be a company that delivers high quality equipment and top of the line service to our end users,’ enthused Stagetec Asia sales director, Advon Tan. ‘The support level that we provide ensures that the customer is always on the right path to creating wonderful mixes and worry-free operation.’
