Meyer Sound on The Pulse

HONG KONG: With seven restaurants throughout Hong Kong each designed to provide a unique dining experience, Le Comptoir Group has had Meyer Sound self-powered loudspeaker systems installed in its three venues in The Pulse, a six-storey, 15,500 sq-m shopping mall in Repulse Bay. International Sound + Light (ISL) installed the systems that were designed by its system designer Scott McLean and supplied by the manufacturer’s Hong Kong-based dealer, Audio Dynamic, at TRi, Hotshot and The Ocean.

TRi is a contemporary Balinese restaurant. ‘When we saw that the designer proposed a theme with both dark and natural shades of bamboo, we realized we could match the bamboo tones by sending the RAL colours to Meyer Sound for an exact match on the MM-4XPs,’ explained Mr McLean.

The system design called for 24 custom-coloured Meyer Sound MM-4XP loudspeakers alongside six MM-10ACX subwoofers. Balanced audio signal and remote DC power is carried to the loudspeakers from a signal distribution box and remote power supply respectively via a five-conductor cable. ‘People are baffled by how much sound can come out of tiny boxes they can hardly see,’ added the system designer. ‘It worked out brilliantly.’

The American-style restaurant, Hotshot, saw Mr McLean specify two UPJunior VariO and three UPM-1P ultra-compact loudspeakers as well as an MM-4XP. Accompanying these are single UMS-1P and USW-1P subwoofers, while a Galileo 408 processor manages the system.

Serving sushi and seafood, the marine-themed restaurant, The Ocean, is located on the third floor of The Pulse. The solution installed by the ISL team comprises 32 Stella-8C and four Stella-4 installation speakers, which have been mounted in the ceiling.

‘I've been working with Meyer Sound systems and Audio Dynamic for a number of years, and I've always been pleased with the results,’ concluded Mr McLean. ‘Management is extremely happy not only with the sound in the restaurants, but also with how the loudspeakers blend into the décor.’
