MIDA sticks with Bosch

MALAYSIA: Located in Kuala Lumpur’s Sentral district, the Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA) is the principal agency to drive investment into the country’s manufacturing and services sector. Celebrating its golden anniversary this year, operations commenced in 1967 for which both private and government funding ensures economic stability and growth. Many of the conference rooms are dedicated to international investors. Most recently, systems integrator Hayamim Ava was called upon to upgrade the 50-seat Japanese room with a Bosch CCS 1000 D Digital Discussion System.

Head of the facility department Ab. Rahman Hj Anas has been employed for three of the five decades that MIDA has been in existence and has been a Bosch user since Concentus technology was made available in 2002. ‘We use our Concentus systems every day – they are in good condition and still work well,’ he offered. ‘ We adopted the CCS 900 platform when it was launched as they’re extremely well-built, reliable, compact, easy-to-set-up and easy-to-use.’

Prior to signing the purchase order for 50 new CCS 900 units to be supplied into the Japan conference room, Mr Anas attended a Bosch product launch for the CCS 1000 D in Kuala Lumpur. ‘I was particularly impressed by the improved audio quality and aesthetics of the new model. Integrating Digital Acoustic Feedback Suppression (DAFS) technology, the system sounds a lot clearer during face-to-face discussions and there are no feedback issues as there is immunity to mobile phone interference. Therefore, I made the request to Mohd Suffian Bin Anwar for us to change the P.O. and he did.’

Bosch 6-pin cabling carries the power, data and audio signals to each unit in a daisy-chained configuration. Each individual unit can then be identified courtesy of the unique ID that has been assigned to each unit both by Mr Anas overseeing discussions from a web browser interface on an iPad and the self-assigned chairman’s unit. ‘This is a useful feature as we can now interlink the conferencing system with the overhead fixed cameras for automatic HD camera control,’ furthers Mr Anas. ‘There are other built-in features such as an integrated USB recorder which make our lives a lot easier. We’re also future proofed should we wish to extend the configuration to a maximum of 80 from the current 50 units in a single controller.’

Mr Suffian enjoys supporting MIDA as it is always open to adopting new technology for its organisation. ‘MIDA is a unique operation in that they wish to maximise their appeal with foreign companies and as such prefer to invest in quality,’ he confirms. ‘As a long term Bosch user, MIDA has aptly demonstrated over the years the great return on investment they command by using Bosch conferencing systems for over 15 years without faults or problems.
