Montarbo to be sold to EKO Music Group

WORLD: Italian loudspeaker manufacturer Elettronica Montarbo srl has announced that it is to be sold to musical instrument distributor EKO Music Group in a deal set to complete on December 15th.

The sale is being described by Maria Montanari, the manufacturer’s current managing director and the daughter of the company’s founder Sergio Montanari, as ‘representing for Montarbo a great opportunity for growth and development without losing its roots’.

The EKO music Group is based in Recanati, Italy, and represents a broad range of high profile MI brands including Marshall Amplification and Korg, though Ms Montanari stressed that Montarbo’s R&D, design and production will all remain based at Montarbo’s Bologna headquarters.

The deal also sees current COO Lorenzo Aramini become CEO of the company, while other members of staff will remain in place including technical director Pierluigi Chiatti, electronic designer Stefano Macchiavelli, acoustic designer Francesco Gatto, product specialist Riccardo Cipriani, and the recently arrived sales director Paolo Stefani.

The news follows a recent interview between Pro Audio Asia and Ms Montanari, during which she declared the beginning of ‘a new chapter in the history of Montarbo’. Following the announcement of the deal, she added: ‘Montarbo will face the near future with new strength to hold the leading position it deserves in the pro audio market’.
