WORLD: The organiser of the 2011 NAMM show, taking place between January 13th and 16th in Anaheim, California, is promising the exhibition’s ‘biggest educational bonanza ever’ for visitors to its Hands-On Training (HOT) Zone.
Located on Level Two of the Anaheim Convention Centre, the Zone is spearheading NAMM’s education plans, taking in a broad range of both high-end and more basic subjects in free one-hour classes covering more than 75 topics. According to the show organiser, the classes are intended to reflect the North American organisation’s determination to help its members succeed despite the current global economic climate. NAMM expects the Zone to become ‘a forum designed to create custom solutions, targeted especially to professionals in the recording, live sound, DJ, Houses of Worship, and stage and lighting industries’.
Among the topics covered will be ‘Introduction to Live Mixing’, ‘Lead Worshipers Arise’, ‘The Future of Music’, and ‘Pro Tools 101’, while on the first day of the exhibition the HOT Zone will offer ‘Boot Camp Day’, boasting an array of basic courses in foundation-level music technology and business. Among the participating organisations are USC Thornton School of Music, the Musicians Institute, the Ex'pression College for Digital Arts, the Berklee College of Music and more.
