New Delhi Municipal Council chooses Revoluto

INDIA: The newly completed New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) conference centre has been equipped with a wired Beyerdynamic MCS-Digital conference system consisting of 350 Revoluto MCS-D 3121 H microphone units.

Having opened its doors in July 2010 targeting international conventions, the NDMC conference centre is located close to New Delhi international airport in one of the fastest growing sub-districts of the city. It is comparable to Singapore’s Suntec City in size, boasting 25 meeting rooms and two 5,000 sq-m exhibition halls in addition to a hotel and commercial facilities. The centre is expected to boost the MICE (meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions) sector of the capital city’s economy.

With the need for a discreet installation running top of the NDMC’s list of requirements, the conference centre commissioned specially designed tables with pre-drilled holes allowing the microphone units to be precisely installed. The H version of the MCS-D 3121 model was also selected as its cable connections are built into its rear, rendering all cabling invisible to users.

Revoluto was the world’s first line array microphone made available for the digital conference market, providing a  unique ’corridor characteristic’ which offers a greater width and depth of field than a conventional gooseneck microphone design. Simultaneous translations and voting are also allowed from the delegate stations, which incorporate function buttons, integral loudspeakers and an LCD. The operating mode of the microphone unit can be configured via the MCS-D 200 control unit or using iCNS software.

In the standard mode the participant can use the microphone button to switch the microphone on and off, while in the conference system's activation mode, the microphone button is used for entering a request to speak, which is visually displayed by the flashing LED on the microphone button. Once the microphone has been enabled by the PC/media controller user or the president microphone unit, the LED stops flashing and is continuously lit. The delegate can deactivate the unit again by pressing the microphone button once more. If the maximum number of active microphones has been reached, the LED will only flash for a short time and the delegate must activate their microphone.
