Nexo and Quest furnish new Wyndham Street bars

CHINA: Nexo and Quest products have been installed into two new high-profile Hong Kong bars, Rayne and Kila, which are based on Wyndham Street. Local contractor LSI called upon Sound Boutique to design and supply a loudspeaker system to fulfil the BGM and foreground music needs of both venues.
Both bars are the brainchild of Cathal Kiely, with Rayne drawing a chic crowd courtesy of its water features, sculptural lights and signature pieces of furniture. The bar and lounge embodies style, whilst the latest lounge and house music played. In contrast,Kila is a traditional Irish pub offering no pretentious airs on the street corner of Wyndham and Pottinger. Designed with contemporary accents, the use of wood inside makes it a very warm and welcoming bar, with bright colours giving it a contemporary feel, slightly offset by large Irish black and white photographs on the walls.
Four Nexo PS10 speakers powered by two NX Amp 4x1 amplifiers are being used to provide the decibels for music playback in Rayne, while a house DJ operates twin Technics SL-1210 turntables, twin Pioneer CDJ900 players and a DJM800 mixer. Sound Boutique’s Edwige Radlo has worked with the owner and contractor before and knew what was required. ‘It’s all about punch and that’s what we have given them,’ she explained.
A dbx ZonePro1261 provides processing while a Furman PS-PRO-E Series II power conditioner offers protection form spikes and surges. ‘Unlike many bars where the owners are wary of irritated neighbours, the owners encouraged spillage out into the street. When passers -by hear the clarity and quality of this Nexo PS10 system, they are often drawn in,’ Ms Radlo added.
InsideKila meanwhile is a juke box playing classics via eight Quest HP8 speakers and a single M210S subwoofer, powered by a pair of QA2004 four-channel amplifiers. A dbx 1231 graphic equaliser and a Cloud CX263 zone processor have been added to the signal chain should future expansions or changing needs arise.
