One Systems covers the Pacific Games

PAPUA NEW GUINEA: Last year’s Pacific Games saw a solution of One Systems loudspeakers installed at the Sir John Guise Outdoor and Indoor Stadiums, as well as the Taurama Aquatic Centre and Indoor Sports Complex. The systems were supplied by the manufacturer’s New Zealand distributor, Jansen Limited.
‘We chose One Systems’ CFA-2 loudspeakers for the outdoor stadium because of their ability to project into a specific zone from a distance and cope with the hot, humid environment,’ explained Jansen project manager, Brent Eady. ‘Mounting them on the lighting poles allowed us to position them to blanket the stands.’
A total of 20 CFA-2 loudspeakers were mounted on four lighting poles, each in a different corner of the stadium, covering all four grandstands. Designed to provide high intelligibility and acoustic output where a long throw is required, the CFA-2 was deemed a perfect fit to the needs of the Sir John Guise outdoor stadium.
‘There are many things to take into consideration when planning to fill an outdoor stadium,’ Mr Eady continued. ‘The CFA-2 covers long distances from fewer mounting positions with less speakers. Lighting poles are inevitable in stadiums these days and have the advantage of including cable trenches. Therefore, they are the ideal spot to mount CFA-2 loudspeakers.’
Meanwhile, a system of 22 One Systems 208CIM loudspeakers were mounted into the ceiling of the Sir John Guise indoor stadium to meet the venue’s PA requirements. ‘The 208CIM is a compact, high-output loudspeaker with exceptional intelligibility,’ the Jansen project manager stated. ‘It is ideally suited for high ambient noise indoor applications, such as an indoor sports venue.’
The Taurama Aquatic Centre and Indoor Sports Complex were also fitted with 208CIM loudspeakers; the outdoor swimming facilities covered by 30 of the loudspeakers, while 116 were mounted in the ceiling of the indoor sports hall.
‘It is a state-of-the-art complex with sound reinforcement that will stand the test of time,’ Mr Eady concluded. ‘The One Systems loudspeakers can handle the heat and humidity while providing the finest quality audio available. The committee was extremely pleased with how the systems performed.’
