JAPAN: Clockaudio has appointed Tokyo-based distributor Onkyo Tokki as its new representative in Japan, citing an ambition to boost its presence and profile in Japan’s lucrative A/V and conferencing market. An official announcement is set to be made at the forthcoming InterBEE exhibition.
Onkyo Tokki is known for supplying a number of major professional audio brands into the domestic Japanese market including EAW, Mackie, QSC and Powersoft, as well as Cadac and LA Audio. Earlier this year, the company was awarded the agency for Biamp, which Clockaudio is describing as a ‘persuasive credential’, with the two brands often finding themselves paired together in installation specifications.
Kyozo Ichitani from Onkyo Tokki expects the Clockaudio brand to perform well with Japan’s TV broadcast companies and in the conferencing sector, appealing to both Japanese and overseas consultants. ‘Clockaudio has a very good reputation with the Japanese installation companies, which is how we heard about the company,’ he explains. ‘The company has a great line-up of products, including the C2, C3 and CS Series, which we believe will be immediately successful.’
