Orchard Plaza Benz installed with QSC system

SINGAPORE: Club specialists Hertz II recently returned to Orchard Plaza to install an audio, lighting and LED wall system into Benz. Supplied by Sindo Exports, the FOH system – comprising six K12 speakers – has been suspended from the ceiling in a L-C-R configuration.
Previously called Galaxy Thai Disco, the four-storey complex in the heart of Singapore’s nightlife is home to a number of competing clubs, leading the management of Benz to raise the bar in terms of entertainment technology. In between the sets performed by live bands, singers and dancers, a DJ takes to the decks on the venue's extensive stage.
Having won plaudits at several other nightspots following the successful installation of QSC Audio KW speaker systems, Hertz II decided to stick to a similar solution for Benz. The lower frequencies are substantially augmented with the addition of six floor-standing QSC KW181 subwoofers.
‘The K12 speakers are extremely powerful and each cabinet provides over 1,000W RMS of power,’ said a representative from Hertz II. ‘These self-powered cabinets are like workhorses. For me, they are best in category in terms of price-performance and features, and are easy to integrate into a club design. To date, we haven’t had any problems with any of the QSC speaker systems that we’ve installed.’
When the house ‘DJ L’ takes centre stage, he uses Pioneer CDJ850 players and a DJM900 mixer. His colleague, ‘Ice’, provides technical support from the control room where he mixes the live performances on a 24-channel Allen & Heath Zed 428 mixer, and the lighting from an Avolites Tiger Touch control surface. The singers perform courtesy of Shure wireless PGX4 microphone systems.
Prior to its stint at Benz, Hertz II was commissioned in the same Plaza to install another QSC Audio system into Fuse. Entertainment in the 120-capacity venue combines the talents of ‘DJ Robert’ and various female singers, in which the performances rely on an Allen & Heath Zed60 14X mixer, Pioneer CDJ2000 turntables and a DJM900 mixer.
The FOH system in the elongated room is served by four K12 speakers together with a further two K10 speakers serving as fills. Two KW181 single 18-inch subwoofers are capable of extending the lower frequencies down to 34Hz (-10dB).
