PCB and DPS supply an LED to AMP

AUSTRALIA: The Pacific Fair shopping centre in Broadbeach Waters on the Gold Coast of Queensland was recently fitted with a giant LED display from PCB Digital that welcomes visitors entering through the east wing entrance below. To facilitate the project, Digital Place Solutions, (DPS) was called in to collaborate with PBS having worked alongside the shopping centre’s owner Amp Capital Shopping Centres last year during the renovations of Pacific Fair.
The client’s requirement for the LED display was that advertisements and marketing campaigns be displayed to shoppers in high resolution. The screen was to be installed facing North West, which meant that sunlight would be cast upon it for a portion of the day. Therefore, a high level of brightness was also needed, in addition to a full external rating that is necessary from the install being outside.
To meet these requirements, PCB and DPS supplied an LED screen that was 8.16m in width and 2.56m in height, providing a 20.9 sq-m screen above the doors of the entrance. The screen possesses an external IP rating and a brightness level of up to 7,000 nits. It is made up of 6.6mm Nichia diodes.
‘DPS worked with PCB to develop a high quality LED solution from their product range,’ explained Stephen Rubie, co-founder of DPS. ‘With a 7,000 Nits specification the high brightness capability delivers impressive brilliant performance both day and night. Likewise, the 6.6mm fine resolution pitch selected, delivers outstanding image quality, especially with shoppers being close as they pass under the location.’
‘We are delighted with the outcome, which is a testament to the right technology for this all-weather location including image resolution that will be relevant for the display’s lengthy life cycle,’ added Phil Giles, managing director of PCB. ‘For this project, we worked to manufacture a quality solution to the specifications, and fully acceptance tested it before delivery to the Gold Coast.’
Ongoing after sales support will be provided to AMP Capital Shopping Centres by PCB.
