Potato Head Beach Club chooses TW Audio for Fatboy Slim

INDONESIA: A recent Fatboy Slim concert at Potato Head Beach Club in Semiyak, Bali was supported with a sound reinforcement system from German manufacturer TW Audio. The system was selected by the club’s technical director, Suhardi Antoro, following a highly successful deployment at Bali’s Sunny Side Up festival in 2014. TW Audio’s Asia technical support, Augustine Edward, was brought in to help design and tune the audio system and support the show alongside Jakarta’s PnP Sound Production.

Powered by Powersoft K3 amplifiers, line array hangs each comprising seven Vera10 elements and two L24 low/mid cabinets were flown on either side of the stage. Low frequency support was provided from subwoofer stacks also positioned to the side of the stage. From top to bottom each stack consisted of two B30s, two S33s, a further two B30s and a pair of BSX boxes. ‘Positioning the subs was a real challenge,’ offered Mr Edward. ‘Right in front of the stage there is a pool that gave us less than a metre gap. The only place with space was on-stage, so the solution we chose was a typical L/R setup.’

In addition to limited space, there were concerns that the pool would absorb a lot of the punch from the speakers. This was compensated for by the large number of subwoofers. TW Audio M12 cabinets and B15 subs provided DJ monitoring and a Midas Pro1 with DL 251 stage rack was the console of choice.

‘The temperature and humidity in South East Asia can get crazy for an outdoor party, but the system performed wonderfully and the mist from the sea was not an issue,’ continued Mr Edward. ‘From the looks of the audience, they were really enjoying it. They danced from 6pm till 3am and were still asking for more.’
