Pro Aktiv Systems install Cambodian nightclub

CAMBODIA: Pro Aktiv Systems has supplied and installed a new sound and lighting system into the Elements Club, which recently opened its doors to the nightlife of the Cambodian capital city Phnom Penh. The system includes Martin Professional lighting solutions alongside EAW sound reinforcement.
Located in the Attwood Business Centre on the Confederation de la Russie, the lounge draws a sophisticated crowd of locals and visitors alike, where the ambience is chilled like the signature cocktails it serves. This is balanced by the mix of house, hip-hop and funk music in the nightclub area, which is focused on an elevated dance floor. The interior has been designed so that its patrons can view the entire venue from almost any point in the room, including go-go dancers and models assuming roles in lavish costumes on a nightly basis.
Pro Aktiv Systems was asked to supply and install the system following it being commissioned in March 2010. The main FOH system consists of two EAW Avalon Series DC-2 three-way loudspeakers, which have been mounted overhead in a horizontal configuration to fully cover the dance floor. These have been supplemented by four EAW SB-1002 dual 18-inch subwoofers extending the low frequencies down to 28Hz. This system is powered by a combination of Powersoft Digam LD-3004, D-2002 and K3 amplifiers.
The VIP dance and DJ areas have been catered for by two EAW UB82e speakers, powered by a single LD-2004 amplifier. The lounge area in contrast is served by a background /foreground music system comprising thirteen EAW dual 6-inch VR62 speakers, supplemented by a single EAW SB-150zP subwoofer and powered by EAW CAZ-1400 and 2500 amplifiers. The smaller downstairs lounge area has been installed with two SMS-5 speakers and three SBX-220 subwoofers. Speaker management is handled by two EAW UX8800 digital signal processors.
The DJ booth is furnished by two Technics SL-1200 Mk2 turntables, three Pioneer CDJ-1000 players, a DJM-1000 Mk II mixer and EFX-1000 effects player for which the DJ’s can monitor their mixes via two Mackie SRM450v2 active speakers.
Pro Aktiv System’s project Manager Jimmy Yap oversaw the entire installation and insisted that three Furman PS-Pro EII power conditioner / sequencers be added to the amplifier racks. Electricity supply in Cambodia is among the most expensive in south-east Asia owing to the disaggregated and isolated small-scale systems. As such, supply can at times be irregular, so the added power conditioning units act as an insurance policy should there be surges, black outs or spikes. The PS-PRO II power conditioner / sequencers incorporate SMP technology, which absorb and dissipate damaging transient voltages. Furthermore, a Multi-Stage Protection (SMP) circuit featuring Linear Filter Technology (LiFT) together with Extreme Voltage Shutdown (EVS) offer a comprehensive transient voltage surge suppressor.
