Qingdao TV Station opts for Robe

CHINA: Qingdao TV Station has upgraded its lighting system in Studio 6 with 24 moving lights from Robe. The new fixtures were specified by the Studio 6’s lighting designer and main lighting programmer Liu Zheng Mao and his team, and supplied via Robe’s Chinese distributor, Leafun (formally known as Leifull).
The station, which broadcasts six regional channels throughout the Shangdong area, selected 10 ColorSpot 1200E ATs, 10 ColorWash 1200E ATs and four ColorWash 575 ATs for the multi-purpose studio. It originally invested in Robe in 2005 when it purchased a number of ColorSpots, and the experience of using these fixtures led to the team once again selecting lights from the Czech manufacturer.
Studio 6 is a 400 sq-m space with 11m headroom. The Robes are rigged on the studio’s overhead bars which cover the whole roof space and can be moved and deployed to wherever they are needed. ‘With this rig I can now light every scenario I need to in the studio,’ said Mr Mao. ‘It opens up many more possibilities and makes the task of lighting a show so much faster and easier.’
Other lighting in the Studio includes a full set of white lights and numerous LED fixtures, all of which, together with the Robes, are controlled by an Avolites Pearl 2008 console.
