QSC promotes burst power ratings

WORLD: QSC has recently updated the power ratings for its PLD and CXD Series amplifiers. According to the manufacturer, the practice of publishing burst power ratings has become an industry standard for better determining an amplifier’s output power.  As such, QSC has updated the specifications of these amplifiers to include both burst and continuous power ratings.

‘In order for audio professionals to properly design a system and maximise their purchasing power, they need to have the most up-to-date and accurate information available,' said Dale Sandberg, QSC senior product manager.  ‘These updated PLD and CXD power ratings will enable audio professionals to make better informed choices and users who take advantage of our unique Flexible Amplifier Summing Technology will better understand how their projects can benefit from channel combinations that excel in delivering outstanding dynamic power to their loudspeakers.’

PLD and CXD series amplifiers feature QSC proprietary Class-D power devices. Flexible Amplifier Summing Technology (FAST) reportedly provides increased power allocation by distributing the total amplifier power across one, two, three or all four outputs, enabling amp channels to be combined for maximum current or voltage output with the largest models capable of up to 5,000W continuous and burst ratings of up to 8,000W.

QSC also announced that software on the PLD and CXD amplifiers now includes additional settings for several of the top selling passive loudspeakers in the marketplace. The included settings are reportedly based upon each manufacturer’s recommended low and/or high pass filter settings and aim to offer users a starting point when deploying or commissioning a system.
