Ravioli Factory seeks discrete solution from K-array

CHINA: Located in the Beijing district of Chaoyang, the Ravioli Factory restaurant and CD Blues bar both sought minimalist sound reinforcement solutions to maximise the space in their compact areas. To aid with this goal, equipment from K-array was installed into the venue on behalf of Sennheiser China – its distributor for the region.
The two venues share a very close relationship; they occupy the ground floor and the first floor of the same building and both are managed by musician Zhang Ling and his wife Xiaoxiao. Several elements created the foundation of the cooperation between the restaurant and Sennheiser China. So much so that CD Blues has almost become an endorser for Sennheiser.
Music is performed nightly at the venue, so a good quality sound system was key. The room is also not that big, and the staging area has been improved greatly with K-array’s small footprint speakers, limiting the space they take up in order to make more room for the musicians. Not to mention that the refined ears of a musician turned manager would never have settled for lesser quality.
In the blues bar, a K-array KR402 system was installed on both sides of the stage, remaining almost invisible thanks to its compact dimensions. Two flown KRM33 are positioned as front-fills, four KF12 monitors have been installed for the musicians, and at the back of the room, about 15m away, there are six Kobra KK50 on both flanks for surround.
In the restaurant upstairs the décor is impeccable. Adorned with classical symbols of Italian Culture, from Chianti wine bottles to a bright red Vespa hanging from the ceiling. The speakers were carefully selected to entertain patrons with quality background music without disturbing the harmony of the room. Eight miniature Tornados were positioned, supported by two Piccolo Subwoofers to enhance the low-end. A single Piccolo amplifier drives the whole of the upstairs area.
‘We are very satisfied with the result,’ said Ms Ling. ‘The concerts are fabulous and the restaurant has also benefitted from the quality and elegant minimalist style of the new speakers. Our musician friends are content with the new system, as are our clients.’
