Ray van Straten named vice president of QSC Professional

WORLD: QSC Audio has promoted Ray van Straten to the position of vice president of QSC Professional, a newly formed business unit intended to serve customers in the retail, rental, production and distribution segments. QSC president and CEO Joe Pham announced the appointment by describing Mr van Straten as ‘a creative, sales-oriented marketer, innovative problem solver and a respected, results-driven leader’.
The news marks a shift in the organisation of QSC, with the foundation of three business units including Mr van Straten’s Professional division. Also new is QSC Systems, which will focus on the integrated systems market led by Joe Pham serving as interim VP, and QSC Cinema led by Barry Ferrell, QSC senior VP and chief strategy officer.
A 30-year veteran of the professional audio industry, Mr van Straten has worked for QSC for 11 years, holding a succession of high-profile positions including retail market manager, director of entertainer solutions, and most recently senior director of marketing communications, training and education. A popular industry figure, he has been attributed with leading a number of the company’s recent successes. In the past he served as national accounts manager for Yamaha Corporation of America and as a Namm Board member.
