MALAYSIA: A complement of RCF line array loudspeakers were recently used for the 2010 Citrawarna – a major annual event designed to celebrate the cultural heritage of Malaysia. The front of house system was supplied by regional production company Fajar Baiduri Events (FBE).
Marketed as the colours of Malaysia, this year’s Citrawarna was reportedly greeted with much critical acclaim from both locals and visitors alike. Held in Dataran Merdeka, the event is intended to celebrate the spirit and diversity of Malaysian culture, and is considered one of the country’s key calendar dates. Accordingly, among the dignitaries in attendance at this year’s event were Malaysian head of state Yang di-Pertuan Agong plus many government officials and ministers.
They found themselves listening to an FOH system comprising 36 RCF TTL33-A active modules, which were augmented in the lower frequency range by 16 TTS28-A and 4 TTS18-A active subwoofers. Fills were catered for by 10 TT25-A active speakers while six TTS-25SMA speakers were used as stage monitors.
‘As Citrawarna is one of Malaysia’s signature events, we were particularly honoured to be selected for this event, which contributes greatly to the development of the tourism industry in the country,’ explained FBE managing director Mr Khairul Isma Abdullah. ‘We couldn’t make any mistakes, which is why I chose to use RCF. It’s a very reliable system and I was confident that the speakers used would make a positive impression.’
FBE’s CEO, Muhammad Faris bin Abdullah Bacha is reportedly delighted with how the RCF system performed. ‘What I require from a sound system is particularly simple – it’s all about clarity,’ he explained. ‘I’ve been using RCF speakers for quite some time now and I’ve got to say, they are very smooth and proficient. As a brand, RCF is really suitable for the Malaysian market.’
