Riedel powers comms for Singapore's NDP

SINGAPORE: Equipment from Riedel was called upon for the recent golden jubilee celebrations at the old Padang cricket ground in Singapore. The manufacturer's solutions supported all technical and production-oriented communications for the National Day Parade (NDP).

The system was supplied and deployed as a complete package, encompassing Riedel Artist digital matrix intercom systems, Performer digital partyline intercom systems, RockNet real-time audio network and a variety of keypanels, beltpacks and radios. These supported cueing of the cast members, as well as the light, sound and pyrotechnics. The entire Riedel installation was controlled from the central control room area located atop the National Gallery.

Three Artist systems connected using a redundant ring of fibre cables provided audio comms via 30 intercom panels, 22 beltpacks and 40 four-wire connections. Staff at follow spot positions were given beltpacks, in addition to staff manning the site's 14 entrance gates. The system also supported 300 handheld radios from eight base stations spread across the FOH area, the control room, under the grandstand and in the OB van compound. Staff from Riedel were present on-site to ensure smooth operation of the system.

'With this year's National Day Parade, Singapore has made a grand demonstration of its impressive achievements over the past five decades,' said Marc Schneider, director of global events at Riedel Communications. 'In coordinating a live show of such complexity, it is essential to have clear, reliable and flexible communications across all key participants. Proven time and time again in demanding live production environments, our Artist, Performer and RockNet systems offer all of these benefits so that everyone involved in the production was able to focus on putting on a great show.'
