Ross Video brings MNB up-to-date

MONGOLIA: As part of a recent upgrade to its production infrastructure, allowing for the transition away from analogue to a completely digital workflow, state-funded television channel, Mongolia National Broadcaster (MNB), has equipped its studios with a full complement of Ross Video hardware. The equipment was supplied by local telecommunications distributor, Global Telecom.
The broadcaster wanted to provide its viewers with a better experience, while also changing the look and feel of its programming. After accepting a tender from Global Telecom, it took receipt of a comprehensive selection of Ross Video products, including its Carbonite production switcher, XPression character generator and graphics system, Inception News newsroom control system, MC1 master control system, openGear terminal equipment and NK Series router.
‘Our first experience with Ross Video began 15 years ago with the purchase of an RVS 216A analogue production switcher – which still works perfectly to this day,’ said Mr Temuujin, head of engineering, MNB. ‘In order for MNB to successfully go digital, we needed to invest in a lot of new equipment. After requesting tenders from local vendors, Global Telecom won with the recommendation of Ross technology – a decision that has proven to be an easy transition.’
While still awaiting installation of a few products - XPression, NK Series and Inception News – MC1 has proven to be the straightforward switcher MNB required, and Carbonite is fulfilling all of their production requirements.
‘Carbonite allows us to produce our programmes more effectively, as well as plan for more programming moving forward,’ continued Mr. Temuujin. ‘While the initial investment was high, the built-in features such as the Chroma Keyer and MultiViewer saved us money - and space. Our operators are truly enjoying everything Carbonite has to offer and can’t wait for the rest of our Ross equipment to be up and running.
