SBS updates Lectrosonics inventory

JAPAN: Tokyo’s Show Biz Studio (SBS), which specialises in sound reinforcement for traditional kabuki theatre, has recently updated its stock of Lectrosonics radio mics. The company, the first to focus on amplification of audio in the traditionally acoustic world of kabuki, invested in Lectrosonics systems two years ago. By 2015, in line with changes to the Japan radio mic frequency band, it became necessary to purchase replacement systems. This includes 464 Lectrosonics SMB/E02 and 288 HH/e02 transmitters, and 100 Venue wideband receivers.

‘Other brands of transmitters use a compressor/limiter but Lectrosonics’ Digital Hybrid Wireless platform very naturally boosts audio signals to give the best sound characteristics of digital audio combined with the robust performance of an analogue wireless system,’ offered Jiri Iwano, general manager of Lectrosonics’ Japanese distributor Tech Trust, which supplied the equipment. ‘This is very suitable for kabuki theatre. SBS has become an expert on how to amplify sound effects and musical instruments used in kabuki in a very discrete way, when there is the need to create a bigger sound electronically.’

‘We are very happy with our latest purchase of Lectrosonics,’ added SBS sales manager Akio Aoyama. SBS has a 50-year history of working in traditional Japanese theatre.
