Sennheiser supports charity at Barclays MoonTrekker race

CHINA: Sennheiser provided sound support for the 2013 Barclays MoonTrekker race, comprising two trek distances; the Moonlit Trail, which is 27km, and the Sunrise race at 40km. Both races began in Mui Wo on Lantau Island and finished at Cheung Sha Beach. The Barclays MoonTrekker is Hong Kong's leading night hike and running event that raises money for a nominated charity each year.

With a total of 1,300 participants readied for the night hike/run at this year’s event, Sennheiser’s role was to provide audio support at all key parts of the races, including the starting point, finish line and four check points within the forested areas. Sennheiser set up LSP500 Pro wireless speakers at each checkpoint and sponsored musicians for performances throughout the night.

This year, Sennheiser sponsored two running teams, one a team of four, as well as in the individual races. ‘We have definitely got a winning team here with our runners as group and individuals,’ said Marc Vincent, president, Sennheiser Greater China. ‘We’re on Lantau Island for the Barclays MoonTrekker, which is a big race across the mountains here in Hong Kong, which raises money for Barclay’s chosen charity. This year they are raising funds for the company’s Reading Room program that provides libraries to schools in rural communities across the world. What a great cause to support!’

As part of the events sponsorship, Sennheiser gave away five Sennheiser/Adidas headphones for Sennheiser teams and presented eight additional headphones for the winners. Team Sennheiser were sponsored with a full kit, including Sennheiser branded running tops, shorts and headlamps. All participants were given souvenirs in the form of a Sennheiser cable organiser for headphones, as well as sweatbands.

At the starting line, Sennheiser displayed its headphones and set up a trial booth for attendees. At the finish line, a Sennheiser stage was set up, featuring the sponsored DJ, fire jugglers, drums, guitar and singing performances.
