SNL Pro helps make EDC a success in India

INDIA: Debuting in India for the first time, the Electric Daisy Carnival (EDC) was supported with technical reinforcement from Sound and Light Professionals (SNL Pro) that included an L-Acoustics K2 loudspeaker system, over 15,000 lighting fixtures and approximately 7,500 sq-m of LED screens. The EDC has a reputation as one of the world’s leading music festivals, following previous outings in the US, UK and Brazil. The event took place at the Buddh International Circuit in Delhi NCR.

‘EDC India has undoubtedly set the benchmark for the complete festival experience, especially if you consider it from the production point of view with key emphasis on sound, light and technicals,’ offered Vincent Samuel from Greenstone Entertainment. ‘Not just in terms of sheer scale, but also the quality of the reinforcement solution. For its inaugural Indian date, Budweiser, the title sponsor of the festival, had created a lounge opposite the main-stage decorated with LED furniture while Bacardi engaged the audiences with a guitar-based activation. Other non-musical highlights of the festival included tech-integrated installations that garnered a lot of attention from attendees. The art installations at the festival grounds coupled with the use of lights to create fascinating effects also reportedly kept festival goers engaged. Music headliners included heavyweights Alesso, Afrojack, Steve Aoki and Yellow Claw leading the international artists, along with locals Arjun Vagale, Anish Sood, Dualist Inquiry, Nucleya and SickFlip, spread across four stages: kineticField, circuitGrounds, neonGarden and the main stage.

Organised by OML and Insomniac Events, with Greenstone Entertainment handling the event production, SNL Pro was responsible for designing and commissioning all of the technical equipment, including audio, lighting, LED/video, special effects, pyro, trussing and supports. To take care of the audio requirements across all four stages, SNL commissioned a total of 66 K2, 48 Kara, 16 X15 stage monitors and 80 SB28 subwoofers, all powered by 52 LA8 amplifiers.
