SINGAPORE: As the official projection sponsor for the Moving Light, Roving Sight exhibition at the Ikkan Art Galley in Singapore, Sony has supplied nine of its VPL-FHZ55 3LCD laser source projectors and a VPLGTZ1 ultra-short throw laser projector to facilitate the construction of a series multimedia art projections.
The exhibition features an array of digital, video, new media and sound works by nine internationally renowned artists: teamLab, Jenny Holzer, Naoko Tosa, Teppei Kaneuji, Haegue Yang, Takashi Ishida, Oliver Herring, Douglas Gordon and invisible designs lab. The manufacturer’s VPL-FHZ55 projectors are being used for the Flowers and People, Cannot be Controlled but Live Together exhibit, which consists of a walkway and large open space with projections covering all surfaces. The material being displayed on the walls is created and rendered by a computer in real-time, with interaction by the viewers continuously changing the work. The manufacturer’s VPL-GTZI ultra-short throw model was used to showcase artworks by Naoko Tosa in 4K resolution.
‘Without Sony’s new laser projectors, installation of artwork with floor projection for our exhibition could not have been achieved with such ease,’ said Ikkan Sanada, director of the Ikkan Art Gallery. ‘We are extremely grateful to Sony’s new technology, which has exceeded our expectations with crisp and clear images projected, plus superior flexibility in terms of installation’.
