Sony to host HDR workshop at Mocha Chai Laboratories

SINGAPORE: Sony and digital film lab Mocha Chai Laboratories are set to conduct a workshop exploring the fundamental of High Dynamic Range (HDR) on Friday 13th January 2017. The workshop will cover three topics: Acquisition, Workflow and Delivery, and will also serve as a showcase for Sony’s PMW-F55 Super 35mm 4K camera and the FS7 II Super35 camcorder. Speaking at the event will be multimedia artist and cinematographer, Kelvin Chew, and professional cinematographer, Teck Siang Lim.
Beginning with Acquisition, the seminar explore two Sony cameras and introduce attendees to the manufacturer’s new X-OCN format while also examining S-Log3 for HDR production. Following this, HDR workflow will be explained as the speakers discuss the importance of the technique, comparing it with SDR and highlighting how HDR will affect current workflows. The final part will see attendees granted the opportunity to experience the BVM-X300 inside the only Dolby Atmos Dubbing Theatre currently operational in Singapore, as well as learning how a colourist would work with S-Log materials and the benefits of HDR versus SDR..
The event will be divided into two sessions, the first running from 10:30am to 12:30pm and the second from 01:30pm to 03:30pm. The organisers note that content for both sessions will be the same. Lunch will be served between the two seminars, from 12:30 to 1:30pm.
