Spectacular A/V for Mr & Mrs Fox

HONG KONG: Located in Quarry Bay on Hong Kong Island, the restaurant Mr & Mrs Fox occupies three storeys of the swanky Taikoo Place Apartments. Separated into three distinct components, the bottom floor belongs to Mrs Fox and is characterised by high ceilings, exposed brass piping, bare concrete columns and long, wooden, communal tables for relaxed dining. With its more upmarket menu, the first level Mr Fox is a more serious affair, whilst the top floor, known as The Den, is a private dining area that can host up to 24 patrons.
Working closely with IHD consultants, Audio System Consultants (Asia) Limited (ASCL) was called upon to cunningly deliver the A/V components on all three levels of the new eatery. The facility is a showcase for QSC Audio products whereby a Q-Sys Core 250i integrated core lies at the heart of everything audio. Its channel capacity of 32 analogue channels has been expanded by the addition of two further Q-Sys I/O frames. Two separate music servers stream music into the three distinct zones, whose levels and sources can be controlled via three TCS-3 touchscreens (two in Mrs Fox and one in Mr Fox) or directly from a PC for The Den. In addition, iPad control has been enabled.
Wall-mounted speakers in the form of AD-S6T and AD-S28Tw models in addition to AD-Ci52ST and AD-C42T ceiling speakers adorn all three levels. The concentration of speakers is however more dense in Mrs Fox with its quest to create a relaxed ambience. Raising the SPLs further, a mobile DJ booth equipped with Pioneer mixers and turntables together with KRK Rokit monitors is called upon during some evenings, allowing patrons to let their hair down and perform a foxtrot. Receiving their power from CXD4.2, CX108 and CX302 amplifiers installed locally on each floor, the speaker system is sensitive to changing ambient noise courtesy of the AKG PZM-11L boundary level microphones.
Video inputs including Apple TV, a TV tuner, Magic TV and Blu-ray players are fed via Cat-6 and HDMI cabling into an Extron DTP Crosspoint 84 matrix via an IPCP Pro 550 switch. A 65-inch TV and three Christie LWU420 projectors constitute the four outputs relaying their images onto Grandview CR-M80 screens. Having successfully installed a QSC Audio solution into Quarry Bay’s showcase restaurant, ASCL ensured it was not outfoxed.
