Sun Infonet looks to DIS for government conference solutions

INDIA: Requiring a meeting solution that could facilitate discussions and decision-making in its 104-seat council hall in the Vidhana Soudha, the in house tech team for the Karnataka Legislative Council recently tasked Sun Infonet with implementing a system overhaul.

The Vidhana Soudha is the seat of the state government of Karnataka and is a defining landmark of Bangalore. The council is part of the local legislature and charged with promoting the welfare of the Karnataka state. It meets frequently to make critical decisions and implement new policies for the benefit of the state and its people.

The venue’s technical team sought flush-mounted shotgun gooseneck microphones that would permit greater distance between the user and capsule while blending into the design of the hall. After examining the council’s audio requirements and meeting needs, Sun Infonet opted for Shure DIS solutions, selecting the DCS 6000 digital conference system.

‘We have had continuous success and received great feedback on the Shure DIS solutions from other government bodies throughout the country and knew it was the right fit for the Karnataka Legislative Council Hall,’ said K.C. Pant, assistant technical manager at Sun Infonet.

The system provides functionality such as an integrated chip card reader for delegate identification and voting capabilities, language interpretation, encryption for secure audio transmission, and audio recording and transcription. The council also requested to add its government logo to every conference unit.

‘In addition to the conference system setup, the Karnataka Legislative Council Chamber also needed a camera tracking system so that every delegate and media representative in the hall could see who was speaking at any time,’ recalled Mr Pant. ‘The CCS 7800 camera control system is a great product within the DIS series and fulfils this requirement by seamlessly tracking microphone activation.’

‘After we had successfully carried out an installation at Suvarna Soudha in 2013, we were asked to also implement the system facelift at Vidhana Soudha late last year,’ said H.D. Joshi, senior technician at Sun Infonet. ‘The Shure DIS DCS 6000 system was selected over competitors for its great performance, functionality and simple operation, as well as its customisation feature. The best-in-class customer support and service from Shure also stood out over the competition.’

Further to the system overhaul at the Karnataka Legislative Council hall, Sun Infonet was also brought in by the government-operated City Convention Centre in Imphal, Manipur, to provide an integrated audio and conferencing solution for its new main auditorium.Once again selecting the DSC 6000, the project involved the installation of over 470 flush-mount conference units with integrated language interpretation system for multiple language support. An automatic camera tracking system was also installed to broadcast video imagery of the speakers.

‘We are pleased to serve as a DIS distributor in India and look forward to offering our continued service and support to government organisations across the country.’
