SynAudCon adds Bangkok and Shenzhen workshops

ASIA: Following the announcement that SynAudCon is presenting its ‘Principals of Sound System Design’ in Singapore on 20-21 August, the educator has now announced similar sessions in China and Thailand. The two-day seminars in Singapore and Shenzhen will focus on sound system design principals, while the longer three-day ‘OptEQ’ workshop in Bangkok will reportedly provide more in-depth coverage. The workshops are being held in partnership with Systems Integration Asia in Singapore (20-21 August), Fuzion Far East in Thailand (24-26 August) and EZPro International in Shenzhen (August 31 – September 1).

Led by SynAudCon owner and instructor, Pat Brown, attendees to the sound system design principles workshops will reportedly learn how to select and place loudspeakers to achieve speech intelligibility and music clarity, using demonstrations and analogies to present the content in a ‘practical, visual and understandable way’. Other topics are stated to include how to get the most SPL from a loudspeaker – including what size amplifier to use – and how to use computer room modelling to speed up the design process. The course materials also include SynAudCon’s ‘Audio Click-Rule’ software program. The three-day Bangkok seminars will provide similar content, taking a more detailed approach.

The two-day OptEQ workshop, taking place in Shenzhen, explores a three-step approach to sound system optimisation that combines ‘contemporary and legacy design and equalisation practices into a logical, accurate, repeatable process’. The first step concerns the loudspeaker, the second its placement in the room and the third is the room itself.
