Taipei’s Neo 19 adopts Kling & Freitag for versatility

TAIWAN: Located in the shadows of the 101Tower in Taipei’s Xinyi District, a fifth floor venue shines brightly in the Neo 19 complex. Multipurpose in its appeal, Neo Studio caters for concerts, private parties, theatrical performances, dances, art exhibitions, fashion shows and conventions. With a 12m wide x 8m deep stage, the audience area in front can either be seated at tables for jazz ensembles or laid open for dance DJs. Acoustically treated with overhead baffles and side drapes, the loudspeaker system has to match its wide variety of acts. As such, general manager Dyland recently consulted IX Technology to propose and install a versatile system that would appeal to all the artists and promoters wishing to book the venue.
IX technology had no hesitancy recommending a Kling & Freitag Sequenza 10 speaker system for Neo Studio’s varied requirements. Owing to the restricted height of the 6m ceiling, a simple L-R system consisting of three Sequenza 10 modules per-side was sufficient. Each 34kg cabinet combines dual 10-inch MF/LF woofers with a high frequency waveguide comprising three 1-inch HF compression drivers. Measuring 795mm x 303mm by 481mm, the horn loaded bass reflex cabinets adopt ‘snap and fly’ fly-ware which aided the smooth and quick installation time when replacing the previous speaker system. The lower frequencies are capable of being extended down to 24Hz courtesy of two per-side Nomos XLT dual 18-inch ground stacked subwoofers. Lab.gruppen fP10000Q four-channel amplifiers power the entire speaker system.
Placed on top of these subwoofers, two previously existing Qube 15N speakers continue to be deployed as frontfills when required. In addition, a Behringer M32 console together with Mipro and Shure SLX4 wireless microphone systems continue to be used for the bulk of the performances in Neo Studio. Having taken two evenings to complete the installation between bookings, Dyland confirmed that IX Technology had duly delivered the goods. ‘It’s relatively compact, but it is capable of producing a lot of power should it be required. Versatility was paramount and with Sequenza 10, IX Technology has provided us with a dynamic loudspeaker system that allows us to host any act.’
