Tannoy and Labgruppen announce collaboration

WORLD: TC Group stable-mates Tannoy and Lab.gruppen have used the ISE 2011 exhibition in Amsterdam to announce their first collaboration, producing what Tannoy is describing as its ‘most significant new product range in several years’.

Named the VX Series, the range includes self-powered VXP models – the first product of their type to feature both Tannoy and Lab.gruppen technologies. Tannoy has introduced the Series as heralding ‘a number of advances in Tannoy’s core offering to the pro sound reinforcement market’, adding that the range ‘represents a major step forward from the V Series’.

According to the announcement, 10 passive models including new 12-inch and 15-inch designs are to be included in the VX range, of which nine will be available as Lab.gruppen-loaded VXP self-powered versions.

Each will include Tannoy’s Dual Concentric point-source driver, the manufacturer’s Q-Centric Waveguide (QCW), and a new cabinet design featuring double-chamfered edges and a grip design named Integrip intended to aid portable PA applications. Each VXP model will also boast Lab.gruppen’s IntelliDrive Energy-Efficient Amplifier (IDEEA) module.

Intended uses for the new range reportedly include fixed installations and live sound applications, while the 12-inch and 15-inch models can be used as floor monitor wedges.
