TC Group Joins AVnu Alliance

WORLD: TC Group has announced that it to join the AVnu Alliance at ISE 2011, declaring that it wishes to add the expertise of its companies – including TC Electronic, Tannoy, Lab.gruppen and Lake – to the effort to establish AVB as the next-generation open networking standard.

The AVnu Alliance is an industry forum dedicated to the establishment and promotion of the IEEE 802.1 Audio/Video Bridging (AVB) open network standard. In joining the Alliance, TC Group is reportedly hoping to add momentum within pro audio circles to establishing AVB as the preferred Ethernet-based audio and video networking environment for next-generation products. The announcement is also seen as underlining the efforts of the company’s TC Applied Technologies division, which is currently developing technologies in-line with proposed AVB standards.

‘It is very exciting to be a member of this exclusive group,’ commented TC Group CTO, Morten Lave. ‘We have always been supportive of open standards. AVB, combined with AVnu’s dedication to create a compliance program, is precisely what the industry needs at the moment.’ Anders Fauerskov, TC Group CEO, added: ‘Open standards are the only way forward, and AVB is the logical answer for us.’

Speaking for the AVnu Alliance, Lee Minich, Marketing Work Group chairman and president of Lab X Technologies, commented: ‘This support by TC Group’s strong brands of Tannoy, Lab.gruppen, and TC Electronic further illustrates the sentiment of the professional, touring, and commercial install segments towards the adoption of Audio Video Bridging.’
