TDC lights the way for the Jaguar F-Pace

AUSTRALIA: TDC (Technical Direction Company) has been engaged to facilitate the projection mapping and LED installation for Jaguar’s The Art of Performance, inspired to highlight the motoring manufacturer’s F-Pace SUV at Vivid Sydney in Martin Place. The interactive video projection comprises animations and multimedia design from Spinifex Group and ideas proposed by Spark44 Sydney and depicts the Jaguar F-Pace, deconstructing, rotating and manipulating the geometry of the car.

‘The display has full automation, monitoring and interactivity,’ explained managing director at Spinifex Group, Cyril De Baecque. ‘Spinifex used Cinema4D and 3D Studio Max to create the amazing visual content.’

The setup has been designed so that a large start button must be pressed by an audience member to initiate the video projection mapping. An angled podium against the backdrop of an LED video wall showcases the car, forming an 11m by 8m canvas with the illusion of depth cast by the animation.

‘The added dimension of surrounding the car with LEDs really adds depth of field, and complete automation really lets us stretch our technical skills,’ said TDC technical project manager, Anthony Pellizzari. ‘This project also gave us the opportunity to demonstrate our technical skills in mapping geometric objects.

‘This is a first for an audience to experience this type of technology in an outdoor public space,’ Mr Pellizzari continued. ‘They can interact to fully become part of the experience. Gauging the public reaction so far, the creative use of the technology and creative behind it seems to really appeal to all ages. We are really happy with the results.’
