TDC takes to the road with first OB

AUSTRALIA: Sydney and Melbourne-based the Technical Design Company (TDC) has announced the completion of its first mobile outside broadcast van. Offering full HD broadcast and production facilities, the TDC HD01 project is the result of collaboration with teams from Sony Asia Pacific, Imagine Communications, Riedel, Fujinon, Miller and Yamaha, with the aim being to develop a truck that could fit into spaces where ‘expando’ vehicles cannot, yet still maximise its internal workspace.
‘For the past 35 years we have been a pioneer in entertainment technology solutions and we know what works for live audiences, on stage as well as on camera,’ stated Michael Hassett, CEO at TDC. ‘We have integrated camera systems into projects for many years so it was a natural progression to extend our existing flypack solutions to the new HD01 outside broadcast vehicle.’
The setup inside the OB van includes a 256x256 Imagine Platinum router with built-in multiviewers. A Dante-based audio network takes main mixing from a Yamaha CL5 and a QL1 serves as a sub or backup mixer. A Sony 3ME MVS-6530 vision switcher is at the core of the system and Sony OLED monitors are present throughout. Sony HDC-17000 and 4K/Super Slomo HDC-4300 cameras are complimented by Fujinon lenses and Miller tripods, and the truck can also reportedly incorporate a range of triax, wireless, PTZ and specialty cameras. It uses Riedel communications equipment and has been wired to support both 8-channel and the latest 12-channel systems from EVS.
‘Ensuring TDC are at the forefront of delivering new technologies to the market is a major focus for TDC and TDC HD01 does just that,’ added the CEO.
