TiMax’ battle cry at the Tangshan Grand Theatre

CHINA: An Outboard TiMax SoundHub-S32 audio showcontrol and spatial sound processor, supplied by Sound Works & Supplies Ltd (SWS), has been installed inside the Tangshan Grand Theatre. The system was selected by systems integrator Beijing Long Hua audio Engineering Ltd, whose technicians had received training on the TiMax system from SWS.

The 1,500-capacity theatre, located in Hebei Province’s Tangshan’s World Park Expo has seen the TiMax fed into the main PA system that comprises d&b V-Series line array and E-Series loudspeakers. d&b M Series were deployed as stage monitors, as were d&b D80 amplifiers, marking the first d&b ArrayProcessing installation within a Chinese theatre.

The system was put to first use as the theatre played host to a historic war drama, requiring a range of sound effects including wind, rain, thunder, aircraft, motorcycles and explosions. SWS assisted in setting the TiMax up with the cues for its first performance, which reportedly impressed the audience, with some theatregoers proclaiming that it was as if they had been transported to the war zone itself.

‘One of the advantages of TiMax is that it is quick and easy to operate,’ noted Caster Ding, assistant engineering manager at SWS. ‘In just half a day, the technicians from Beijing Long Hua had mastered its operation.
