Toshiba collaborates with Waves Audio on groundbreaking tech

JAPAN: Two groundbreaking consumer technology products designed to celebrate Toshiba’s 25th anniversary are using MaxxAudio3 algorithms from Waves Audio. Both products are available exclusively in Japan.
In celebration of its quarter century, Toshiba has produced the Dynabook Qosmio DX, which is described as a combination of a television and a computer, alongside the world’s first dual-touch screen mini notebook, dubbed the Libretto W100. The MaxxAudio3 algorithms are being employed in both products as, says the software developer, ‘a volume enhancer to deliver big sound from small speakers’. An onscreen ‘widget’ appears in the interfaces of both products, allowing users to access to MaxxAudio features and presets.
Following the deal, Tomer Elbaz, general manager of Waves Semiconductor and Licensing Division, described himself as ‘honoured that Toshiba’s Japan Division has chosen Waves technology again’. The announcement marks the fourth year of collaboration between the two companies.
