Tried and tested upgrades at Taipei’s JLMx

TAIWAN: A recent project to expand the JLMx Studio in Taipei has resulted in its founder and lead composer, Jimmy Lin, opting for three-way studio monitors from German manufacturer, Eve Audio.
The studio specialises in audio postproduction and scoring for TV and film, in addition to providing tracking and mixing services for music albums when studio availability allows. It features two control rooms – one equipped with a 5.1 setup for scoring and postproduction, while the other is a standard editing suite and mixing room for TV work.
Mr Lin was seeking new three-way monitors for the surround sound control room but was ‘unimpressed with many of the solutions presented to him’. Hi-End Technology recommended Eve Audio SC307s and lent him a pair to try out. At the time, Mr Lin was working on a full orchestral score for a feature and reportedly ‘loved the detailed and accurate’ output of the SC307s.
Following the trial, Mr Lin purchased three SC407s as left, centre and right speakers, a pair of SC307s for the rear, and a TS112 subwoofer to complete the system. Since purchasing the monitors Mr Lin has mixed three films and one single, reporting that ‘they all came out great.’
