TV Asahi upgrades OB truck with Lawo mc² 56 MkII console

JAPAN: TV Asahi, one of the most viewed television stations in Japan, has undertaken a refit of its EX 402 audio OB truck. During the process, a 48-fader Lawo mc² 56 MkII console was fitted into the truck, and was the connected to two Lawo stageboxes – based on the Dallis I/O system – via Madi to provide the inputs and outputs for the system. The refit of TV Asahi’s EX 402 was carried out by Lawo’s Japanese partner, Otaritec Corporation.

‘By choosing the mc² 56 for our OB truck, I can be sure of the highest levels of sound quality, reliability and usability. And I can be sure to find many engineers who can operate the consoles,’ commented TV Asahi’s project engineer. As well as high sound quality, the desks have also become familiar to the company’s engineers, who regularly encounter Lawo consoles when working on international outside broadcast productions.

The mc²56 MkII is the latest addition to the mc² series, and is aimed at production use, as well as theatre and live applications. Because of its compact size, it is also ideally suited to OB van integration. TV Asahi plans to use the upgraded vehicle for sports productions, including baseball, soccer and figure skating.
