TW Audio brings sound quality to heart of Lutyens’ Delhi

INDIA: TW Audio distributor Acoustic Arts has installed an M Series system into the Lutyens Cocktail House, the latest venture of restaurateur Priyank Sukhija. The bar and restaurant is situated in the heart of New Delhi, designed in part by British architect Edward Lutyens in the early 1900s. The area remains the seat of India’s government to this day.

‘The owners were looking at building a special space for a special crowd,’ explained Acoustic Arts director, Sunny Chhibber. ‘They wanted everything to be a cut above other venues in the vicinity. They tested a lot of equipment from a lot of different manufacturers and eventually, following some TW Audio demos at our premises, they decided to go with this system because they thought it sounded better than anything else they’d tested.’

Mr Chhibber, who got onboard while the building work was still at a very early stage, describes the project as a very simple installation job. ‘The room has very good acoustics and there were no real challenges,’ he said. ‘This is largely down to the furnishings of the bar which is in an old fashioned, last days of the Raj style. A lot of wood has been used, and the large windows are covered with slatted wooden blinds. It already sounded good, so we didn’t need to install acoustic paneling, which their décor wouldn’t allow in any case.’

A system consisting of four TW Audio M8 and four M12 speakers has been installed, with two B30 subwoofers placed under the DJ booth and a B15 compact sub on the opposite side of the room. The system is powered by three Lab.gruppen fP 3400 and two IPD 2400 amplifiers. Acoustic Arts also provided a Biamp Nexia SP DSP unit and Pioneer DJ equipment.

Mr Chhibber is anticipating great things for the German brand on the subcontinent in the near future. ‘We’ve done three or four jobs with TW Audio and going forward I think that there will be incredible growth,’ he said. ‘It is already a strong brand in Europe and the company is doing very well with its range of products. For the Indian market, the brand represents an ultra premium product and we’re offering it to customers who are looking for the very best, who are willing to invest what it takes to get the best possible product for their venue.’

Apart from being a prestigious installation project, Lutyens Cocktail House also provides Acoustic Arts with a great venue to showcase the TW Audio install range. ‘I’ve brought potential clients here to listen to the system, and every time it’s left an extremely favourable impression,’ said Mr Chhibber. ‘It’s a very clean sounding system, and they really push the volume up at weekends, when the place is packed with VIPs and politicians. It’s one of the most happening places in New Delhi now.’
