TW Audio jams Hot and Kool

MALAYSIA: Having recently purchased a large quantity of Vera36 cabinets from German manufacturer TW Audio, Fajar Baiduri Events (FBE) Sdn Bhd has deployed the whole system for one of the first times at the recent Hot Kool Jam concert at Setia City Park in Setia Alam. The rental company increased its TW Audio roster last year, having been impressed by the Vera system at a demo day, as it continues to shift its focus towards full-service event production.
A total of 24 Vera36 line arrays, setup 12 per side, and 20 Vera S33 subwoofers were employed at the event which was hosted by radio stations Kool FM and Hot FM in Setia City Park. Fajar Baiduri also deployed six BSX subwoofers that provided infra sub sound and a combined 11 Lab.gruppen PLM amps powered the PA system, while 14 C15s and a couple of C12s, which were powered by six Powersoft K3 DSP amps, served as monitors.
The event, which included performances by local band Bunkface, as well as from M. Nasir and Amy from Search, was broadcast on local television channels TV3 and TV9 the following week. ‘I was standing 80-90m away from the stage, smiling,’ recalled TV3 audio director, Wak Mohd Zaidi Mohamed Taib, who was initially sceptical that the TW Audio setup would be powerful enough to cater to a crowd of 8,000. ‘What can I say? All the frequencies, all the instruments, everything is clear and defined. This PA sounds great.’
TV3’s audio executive, Muhammad Zunnun, was in charge of mixing monitors and was impressed. ‘There was so much level and quality coming out of the speakers,’ he stated. ‘The musicians were also impressed by the sound on stage.’
