CHINA: US systems integrator Verrex is set to reach into the Chinese and broader Asian market having announced the opening of Verrex Asia Ltd, which will be based in Hong Kong. According to an official announcement, the conferencing specialist is intending to build its brand ‘locally with both native and global professionals mimicking the Americas-based corporation’s strengths’.
Verrex Asia has reportedly already secured contracts within China, including the design of substantial A/V conferencing facilities for State Street in Hangzhou. The company has also won an integration and onsite project management contract for Deutsche Bank’s new corporate auditorium at the Hong Kong International Commerce Centre (ICC).
Meanwhile, the organisation is planning to act as a distributor for a range of audiovisual and conferencing products to end-users and systems integrators, including US and European brands currently lacking a presence in the region. No brands have been announced as yet.
Thomas Berry Jr will serve as chairman and CEO of the new subsidiary, alongside president and COO Norman Fornella. Michael Stahl has been named executive director.
‘The positive economic growth around Asia and demand for conferencing and managed services created a unique opportunity for a first-class quality integrator to be based in the region,’ explained Mr Stahl. ‘Our Asia Pacific expansion immediately propels Verrex to address that opportunity.’
