Verrex expands APAC presence

HONG KONG: Global A/V systems integrator Verrex has opened an office in Hong Kong, its second facility in the APAC region joining its already established hub in Shanghai. The new office is situated in the heart of Hong Kong’s metropolitan hub, Wan Chai, and will enable Verrex Asia Ltd to better supply its full catalogue of systems integration and global managed services to the Hong Kong and China markets, and throughout the Asia Pacific region.

David Kwok, Verrex China/Asia Pacific business director, will oversee the operations in Hong Kong alongside recently hired senior sales manager – Asia Pacific, Alex Chan. Mr Chan fills the newly created role, which is reportedly in response to accelerated ‘demand for improved audio visual capabilities, solutions and services’ in the region. He has more than a decade’s worth of experience in the APAC A/V market, having served for the likes of Principle One Limited and Ultra Active Technology Limited in sales management roles. With a Master of Science in IT Management from the Chinese University of Hong Kong Business School, Mr Chan also possesses InfoComm’s Certified Technology Specialist (CTS) qualification.

‘Having worked in the audio visual industry for over 10 years, I am extremely excited to be part of the Verrex family, a company that defines excellence in providing audio visual solutions and services to clients and partners,’ said Mr Chan. ‘I am delighted with the opportunity to lead business in this region. We will continue to serve our clients with Hong Kong as the strategic hub to cover Asia Pacific countries and the door to China; collectively a region poised for considerable growth and adoption of A/V technologies.’

‘Alex has a proven track record in all aspects of A/V technology sales to decision makers,’ explained Bill Chamberlin, Verrex vice president of global sales, to whom Mr Chan will directly report. ‘With end user awareness of the benefits – and complexities – of audio visual solutions at an all-time high, Alex’s consultative sales approach and technical skills make him a valuable resource to our clients and partners. He will no doubt be a considerable asset in continuing to develop the Asia Pacific region as part of Verrex’ global strategy.’

The Hong Kong office will mirror the company’s North American headquarters, facilitating sales, engineering, project management, field installation and servicing, and supporting the client base with a regional service desk. It was opened with an invitation-only event for partners and manufacturers in the region that was also attended by Verrex CEO Thomas Berry Junior.

‘Our ultimate goal is not a sizable footprint, but a strategic one that allows us to globalise our capabilities based on an evolving client profile,’ said Mr Berry. ‘The Hong Kong market’s appetite for superior A/V solutions and services told us that we needed to be on the ground here. I look forward to results from the hard work and dedication our Hong Kong team, led by David and Alex, will deliver and to their contributions to Verrex’ unified vision and mission.’

‘The Asia Pacific region continues to be a source of unparalleled business opportunities and Hong Kong plays an important role in maximising this region’s potential. Our commitment to operations here is an incredible source of value to global and national organisations that have run into challenges related to standardisation, adoption and support of their A/V investment,’ concluded Mr Kwok. ‘Verrex is committed to be their local partner and champion throughout East Asia and around the globe.’
